RSS feed broken

Great. I just found out that my RSS feed has been broken for a few weeks. I have no idea what’s wrong with it yet.

Oh, I forgot to credit Pete Willard, he’s the Lego Maniac ’round these parts. I supply the Legos, he supplies the creativity.

CSS menus, free for the taking!

Courtesy of e-lusion.com, here are some simple CSS menu designs for you to download and use any way you see fit. Specifically, they are under a Creative Commons - Attribution 2.0 license.

My favorites are at straight-up noon and 3 o’clock.

A letter from a reader

Rafal writes:

And my response:

Hi. I got a call back from someone in the “Executive Relations Office” or something like that. The lady was courteous and listened to my situation and offered to help by calling the repair center to locate my ipod (which was by this time was being shipped back). She didn’t offer anything to make up for the crappy experience I had, but after I pleaded a bit she offered to give me something from the Apple Store. I got her to send me an iPod remote and a leather carrying case with belt clip. Retail value of this stuff was $60 which is what I paid for the Applecare warranty so I was happy.

However, regarding your statement about them being arrogant, other people at the company, including the customer relations department, were pretty unhelpful. Unlike some companies, Apple apparently chose to not empower their representatives to help the customer when unusual circumstances arise. Too bad.

site plugs

In the blogging mood and I thought I’d take time to plug a few sites that were on my mind at the moment.

First, when it comes to CSS design if you want to catch the latest tips and buzz here are two recommendations: CSS Vault and A List Apart.

CSS Vault is one of many blogs out there that serve as a link factory to new stuff on the web. But more than that there is a gallery of cool sites using CSS. Great for inspiration. Post volume is low, say 1-3 posts a week.

A List Apart is a treasure trove of original articles written by various established designers in the biz. Each article is guaranteed to please and sure to teach. They are great about clearly explaining each aspect and taking the time to show a technique at each step to see how things progress. Take the time to read the back issues. Updated “most Tuesdays”.

Ok slight switch of topic, instead of strictly CSS another great site is Sitepoint. Nice full-length articles but the main draw for me are the DHTML & CSS”>PHP and the DHTML & CSS blogs.

Enjoy.

New Bloglines features and interface

Bloglines, my current favorite web-based news aggregator, has released a few new features and a pretty slick new interface. You can read about it on their news page.

One notable new feature is an internal blogging engine. I already have a blog here so if I use my bloglines blog at all, it will be for basically reminders to myself of articles I wish to read later, software to check out at home, stuff like that. Perhaps analogous to Scoble’s link blog.
