How to size text using ems

Nice article on Clagnut.com on how to use ems to size text in a webpage. Why ems?

“IE/Win will not allow readers to resize text that has been sized in pixels.”

http://www.clagnut.com/blog/348/

The article is very well-written and easy to apply. Don’t forget to read the comments below, there is a lot of valuable advice there as well.

Memorial for Nick Berg

A horrible incident developed in Iraq today. Just awful. An American contractor was beheaded and a video of the act was published to an Islamic extremist website. No, I haven’t seen it, and I will not look for it. From what I hear, an al-Qaeda lieutenant is claiming the responsibility. I will leave you with a quote:

Jabar Khan, a Kabul shopkeeper, said: “This beheading is a good act because the Iraqis have been oppressed and whoever is oppressed should defend themselves. As a Muslim I support this act.”

This is the peaceful Islamic faith.

Jabber & Psi news

Jabber

I guess I’ve never mentioned this here, but I’m the webmaster for the Psi Jabber client. Jabber is an open-source instant messaging protocol, fully standardized by the IETF. The stated goal of Jabber is nothing less than to take over the world. I’m also a member of the Jabber Software Foundation. As such I get to have some level of input into how the world of Jabber evolves.

I’ve tried nearly all the Windows and multiplatform Jabber clients out there and I settled on Psi some time ago. I started as just a user but over time came to contribute more time to helping things along. Now I work with the developers to coordinate stuff and administer the forums, bug tracking database, website, etc.

Some Psi news today in fact. We released psi-0.9.2-test1 today, which means 0.9.2 isn’t far away. Check out the forums for more details.
