Was reading [this][] cool thread over at Enagadget last night that was talking about cool PDA and smartphone applications. I found one cool piece of software for my [iPaq 4155][]. WiFiFoFum is a wifi sniffer application that can show wifi access points and some interesting detail about them. This is the first one I’ve found that would work with my model (that’s free). Cool stuff.
I have *no* idea how it knows orientation and distance. I only have one antenna…

Turns out the radar stuff is just more of a pie chart sort of thing. The distance from center indicates strength, and the orientation is simply each AP at 20 degrees separation. Oh well.
