Just put it in a zip file with more than 32 files!  This was at the beginning of an email I received today.

I feel secure.

There is a solution for this:
Don’t use Lotus Notes :-)

Something about that “32 files’ message is familiar. Can’t place it, but I know I’ve seen it before.

In any case, I am quite certain that either the message did not come from Notes at all, or it came from a part of Notes that has nothing to do with anti-virus protection or security. If it comes from Notes at all, it might be the search engine or the display filter for zip file attachments that has added the message.

The reason I’m so sure it has nothing to do with Lotus Notes anti-virus scanning is that there is no anti-virus scanning built into Notes.

Notes (and the Lotus Domino server that goes with it) has never had even basic anti-virus included, not to mention any scanning of zip files. It’s just not part of the product. All anti-virus processing is left for third party companies (and some open source solutions, too) to provide as add-ins or as “boundary” solutions.
