While the screenshots look gorgeous, it will take more than a high polygon count to bring this disillusioned gamer back to FPS games. Will there be anything new, or is it going to be the same as the old Action Quake with nicer textures? I realise that War is pretty pointless, but having new and unusal gameplay elements would help draw me back to the genre.
Well Tony, have you ever played Enemy Territory? It’s a team play concept, kind of like “America’s Army”, where your team has to reach goals in orders, like say, escorting a tank to blow up a wall to steal the gold to escort the truck with the gold, etc. It’s not just a raw FPS.
Yes, I have played ET, although it was a few years ago. The goal-oriented gameplay was better than standard free-for-all of many other games, but I guess I just wasn’t drawn in like I expected. Many thousands of others love ET; perhaps I’m just getting old.
