Jay tried to get me to get a Tivo (again) today. He did a pretty good job, actually. Supposedly, you can get a time-shifting VCR-like device for $95 $0/monthly. That’s all I’d use it for anyways. I haven’t seen that deal online, maybe he’s talking about a DirecTV bundle or something. But I don’t need or want a satellite. My more tv-addicted friends don’t understand me. I have digital cable through Bellsouth (a baby bell), and it’s alright. It’s better than analog cable, I have a program guide, a straightforward remote control, music, PPV, etc. Just like what the conventional cable companies are offering for a competitive price. The thing is..

I never use it! It’s there for the kids’ cartoons, the wife’s Return of Survivor XXVII Three-Mile Island Fun Party. And the occasional Adult Swim. But seriously–I never watch TV. I kinda gave up on it somewhere towards the end of the last Buffy / Angel season and 24 season 2. Not sure what happened exactly, I used to love those shows. But I don’t care anymore. The computer might have something to do with it. But actually, if my hard drive exploded right now, I’d pick up a book before flipping channels on the TV.

No Tivo for Hal.
