Hi, this is a follow-up to some of the comments posted so far. psz, thanks for the to the map. The JabberMaps is currently powered by google maps with data from Public JabberNet. If those servers are listed there the map will eventually pick them up, especially if the admin provides lat/long and an address or cross street of where the server is.

Sender, I didn't realize that the servers had gps co-ordinates. Using that would make my life easier. How can I query that?

cs, At first, I only saw the U.S., then I clicked on the Satellite link. If anyone gets ambitious, we can do one better and insert our own map tiles in place of the Satellite map or the regular sky blue map, but that's another day and another project. :)

That’s because, although Google Maps only provides map data for North America and the Isles, it provides satellite information for the whole world. The satellite image that’s used still has a long way to go, since it distorts the Earth like crazy near the poles (due to the projection used), and it only provides data up to a certain zoom level. But that should be fine for this purpose, since there aren’t any Jabber servers on the South Pole, right?

sender: I'll mention that to Carl. I don't know if he thought about that or not. Right now that is not how it's done, but not much is automated at this point

cs, surprise, you are wrong. :) Right now I can use this map system to find for example, jabber.org.au
